ART LIFESTYLE PLACE TO GO

THINGS TO DO | August 2017

future-and-found-shop

If you’re not heading off on your holidays this month and vacation envy is settling in, worry not because London holds the key to a perfect August filled with festive delights. From workshops to exhibitions, pop-us to parties, here are the very best things to do to make your final month of summer count.

Fiz at Lights of Soho

Now, there’s bottomless brunch and there’s bottomless brunch and I prefer mine in one of London’s jazziest exhibition spaces. You’ll find no cheapo bubbles and sub-standard avo-toast at Fiz, oh no. Fiz is currently enjoying a residency at Lights of Soho, a gallery, member’s club and social enterprise that’s somewhat of an institution in central London. Filled with neons and light-based works of art, the glowing spot has been transformed into a sparkling wine bar inspired by the Cava spots of Barcelona for the month of August. With a sumptuous menu, lovely staff and a menu of the most delicious bubblies I’ve ever tasted (try the rosés), you’d be straight-up silly not to check this place out.

It’s Called Art Mum, Look It Up at Protein Studios

You might have spotted Polly Nor’s drawings on sites like Vice and Dazed but and now you can see a brilliant collection up close and personal at one of our favourite event spaces, Protein Studios in Shoreditch. It’s Called Art Mum, Look It Up launches this month and is set to be a great exhibition showcasing the Polly’s dark satirical images. Inspired by life in the internet-age, this show explores themes of identity, sexuality and anxiety through unique illustrations and sculptures. Click attending on Facebook here.

The Art Conference #07 at The Hoxton

The journey from struggling contemporary artist to rising star is long, lonely and more often than not embarked upon without a map. The Art Conference asks how today’s emerging talent can hope to enter and navigate the art market. The talk will be followed by the announcement of the Secret Art Prize 2017 winners and a presentation of the artists who will be exhibiting at Moniker Art Fair, this October. Hear speakers such as Creative Debuts Director Calum Hall, the inspiring Founder of Curious Duke Gallery Eleni Duke, Printmaker & Photographer Craig Keenan and more discuss the ins and outs of being a young creative.

Events, Workshops and Shopping at Future + Found

One of London’s most gorgeous shops just got even better and take it from me, it’s worth a visit. Future + Found in north London’s Tufnell Park is an independent design, lifestyle and homewares store packed with beautiful things. The shop offers workshops, an interior design consultancy service, a stunning studio space and a jazzy patio area where the shop’s summer events have all kicked off. I highly recommend a trip to the shop for a nose around and a look at Future and Found’s upcoming workshops. From ceramics to styling and floristry, they’ve got it all.
