Don’t get it twisted, Valentine’s Day is for everybody and whoever you might be crushing on, you deserve to feel the love on 14th February. Whether you’ll be celebrating with your squeeze your sweetheart, your fur friends (more on that later) or plan to use the day to show your dear friends and family just how much you care for them, ditch the dodgy dinner and petrol station flowers and sign up for one of these creative events and experiences instead. The original insurgent florist is back with wicked workshops for 2017. From bouquets to garlands and floral headpieces, Rebel Rebel are hosting masterclasses in their Hackney studio from 2nd February for the rest of the year. So, whether you want to put a little extra work in and craft a bouquet for your bae by hand or fancy attending as a group or a couple to learn a unique creative skill, rest assured the pros at Rebel Rebel will guide you through the whole process. Everything’s provided, including wine and nibbles, so sign up and enjoy one of our favourite workshop offerings the city has to offer.

Can’t find a card to express how you really feel? Head down to Drink, Shop & Do and have a bash at making your own instead. Surprise your Valentine with a handmade masterpiece, hewn of colourful paper and pritt stick and enjoy a few drinks in one of London’s most creative bars while you’re at it. If you don’t succeed in your endeavours, fear not. There are plenty of cards made by legit design professionals on sale at the front of the venue to choose from. Just don’t pretend you made them, you probably won’t get away with that.

Step into a pop culture paradise at Bethnal Green’s unique and luxurious Town Hall Hotel. Enjoy a welcome cocktail, three course meal, fancy Mast Brothers chocolate bar and a special screening of Wes Anderson’s beautiful film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Whether you’re an avid typography fan, or simply want to try your hand at something new and creative, join stylist and blogger The Lovely Drawer AKA Teri Muncey for one of her famed Brush Lettering workshops. The perfect opportunity to pen a message of love, learn a creative skill together or just do something you might have always wanted to with people you care about, these sessions will have you lettering like an expert illustrator. The result also makes an excellent framed gift and you’ll get the frame as part of the ticket price. Book your session in February or buy one for later in the year as present for somebody sweet.

This year, forget about finding your human soulmate and seek out your forever fur friend for a wholly more rewarding Valentine’s Day. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home are hosting a special evening event at the famed animal shelter to showcase the cuties under their roof and help them to find loving homes. So, visit the London Cattery, sip on a glass of bubbly and perhaps meet a little sweetie whose life you’ll change forever. Our hearts are full, our arms open, and we can’t wait for this one.

If you’re not sure where to head for quality flowers, humble bouquets and show-stopping arrangements, Boxpark Shoreditch will hosting a pop-up flower market for two whole days, to help you hopeless romantics with all your Valentine’s requirements. Columbia Creative will be peddling beautiful blooms to east London’s lovers on the Boxpark Green, so pop along for a visit and pick up a little something for the one you love, like, or tolerate.
Pop-Up Post Box at Hoxton Hotel
When? 7th to 14th February
Letterbox lovers Not Another Bill will be parking their portable post box at The Hoxton Hotel for one week in February to give you the chance to send a Valentine’s card free of charge. What’s more, the cards on offer are a sight for sore eyes, designed and created by some of our favourite creatives, including Crispin Finn, Max Haughton, Bee Davies and Rob Draper. Whether you pen a classic sonnet, a heartfelt message or something that’s basically along the same lines as a sext, send it for free at Hoxtown, courtesy of N.A.B.

Look, we know there’s a bit of theme here but if you don’t fancy a night spent cuddled up with your Valentine surrounded by seriously cute cats, what kind of a person are you? Really? Enjoy a selection of romantic screenings for rom-com month at The London Cat Village with some very special characters, plus excellent coffee and cake. The cats will be cosying up, settling down and joining you for the movie of your choice so bring a friend, bring a crush, hell, bring your mum and feel the love in the company of east London’s finest professional fluffballs.
