WIN £5K to Transform an Unloved Space for Your Community

At our most recent event YOUNG GOLD TALKS, we met a tonne of inspiring young people, all with fantastic ideas and aspirations. One particular topic we discussed time and time again while getting to know members of our community was lack of resources. While it’s all very well having grand ideas and wonderful plans on how you plan to change people’s way of thinking, provide opportunities, celebrate your culture and spread positive messages, turning these ideas into actions can be challenging if your resources are limited.

Having great ideas but not enough resources to exact them is something we too have plenty of experience of, which is why we’re always on the lookout for unique initiatives to assist creatives. Our latest find is a programme hosted by Spaces 4 Change, a programme that operates all over England funding, supporting and connecting people between the ages of 16 and 24. The project is staged in collaboration with Young UnLtd, an organisation focused on deconstructing the barriers that prevent change and supporting social enterprises and initiatives.

The programme is centred around unlocking the potential of unused or under-utilised spaces for the benefit of a local community, especially if it’s comprised of young people. From the end of 2016 to 2019, 100 awards for young leaders and collectives will be up for grabs. These awards consisting of up to £5,000 of project funding, dedicated award managers to provide tailored support, consistent cohort support and peer-to-peer networking opportunities too.

Now, we know what we’d do with the money and mentorship but everyone is different so you’ll likely have other ideas. However you choose to plan your transformation, for whatever community and in whatever area, be sure to cover everything, make your pitch clear and professional and nail that application. These resources are there for the taking and we’d love for a member of our community to win them.

So, if you’re between the ages of 16-24, live in England and have an idea for a project that will breathe new life into an unloved or underused space that will benefit young people, get your entries in. Whether you plan to apply solo or as a group of up to four people, share your goals with Spaces 4 Change and Young Unltd and make use of a set of amazing resources to really make a difference.
