YOUNG GOLD TALKS
On Saturday 12th November, YOUNG GOLD TEETH staged its first community talks event, aptly named YOUNG GOLD TALKS. Throughout the day we welcomed more than 150 guests through the doors of Google Campus, Shoreditch, and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for coming. Now, hosting such an event was no mean feat and we certainly couldn’t have done it without such an inspiring line-up of speakers, a wonderful team and some truly amazing sponsors.
During the day, we heard talks and presentations from the likes of Alice Mayor, the founder of We Built This City, an amazing shop championing London’s designer/makers, Lola Hoad, hand-letterer, designer and founder of One Girl Band, and Mathieu Adjan, an artist, entrepreneur and the founder of creative comms agency Teardusk. Without our friends, YOUNG GOLD TALKS could never have gone ahead, let alone have gone down so well.
The purpose of YOUNG GOLD TALKS was to take the blog and its community of readers, independent businesses, designer/makers, creatives and entrepreneurs into a physical space to learn, share and connect for one day. The aim was to affirm the value of connecting with one another, with supporting and celebrating creativity and being honest and forthcoming about creative careers and lifestyles. Throughout the day we learnt about self belief, inspiration, the challenges of going it alone, business strategy, social media, the history and future of the creative industries and more. If you were there, we hope that you left feeling as pumped up and ready to make the best of doing what you love as we did.
Special thanks to Google Campus for having us, speakers Olga & Kay a creative duo documenting London, illustrator and image-maker Jade Spranklen, designer and award-winning art director Patrick Myles, Amy Caiger of Caiger Contemporary art, blogger and stylist at The Slumflower andante director of Innclusive Chidera Eggerue, designer, mentor and indie business owner Lola Hoad, We Built This City founder Alice Mayor, founder and editor of Intern Magazine Alec Dudson and Mathieu Adjan founder of Teardusk, photographer Olga Kotovska and the YGT team.
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to our friends and sponsors, whom without, we would have probably withered away due to a lack of sustenance. Thank you, Vita Coco, Squirrel Sisters, Pip & Nut, Propercorn, Aduna, Tapped, Love Cocoa and to our wicked stationery and gift partners Collett + Holder, Papier, The Do Book Company and the amazing Motivational Tattoos.
We’re thrilled to have sold out tickets for this event so quickly and to have received such a positive and overwhelming response. Having learnt so much on the day, grown our creative community and made so many new friends, we’re already keen to begin planning another event just like it. For now, we’ll let you enjoy the photos and check out the hashtag #YOUNGGOLDTALKS for highlights from the day. If you have any questions about the event or upcoming events, don’t hesitate to reach out and say hello on any of our social channels or get in touch with us here.
