Eero Lampinen is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Helsinki, Finland. His bubblegum and candy coloured images may seem to be all sweetness and light, but look closer, and you’ll discover a wry and darkly playful narrative running through almost all of his illustrations.
Eero’s various projects depict folksy renderings of mythical characters reminiscent of Tove Jansson’s creations, manga-esque forces of light and darkness, and whimsical scenes in striking pastel hues.
His collaborative illustrations, for which he has teamed with talented fashion illustrator Milena Huhta, transport us to a dreamy realm where street style is unparalleled, tastemakers are convoyed by braces of lynx, and everyone’s hair looks peachy and fly.
Their joint project and blog Luxury Flush contains a selection of these collaborative images and is our current go-to for a pink and heavily patterned pick-me-up. From werewolves to Pokemon trainers and girl gangs and sneakerheads with awesome hair, this blog is definitely the place to be.
Eero’s recent design and illustration projects include a variety of editorial illustrations for international creative magazines, a svelte pocket calendar for a Tokyo university, and prints of personal work for exhibitions in the city he calls home.
We love an illustrator whose humour is so effortlessly conveyed through his images. There are a tonne of private jokes concealed in the titles and scenarios that Eero dreams up, and the diversity of each of them keeps us on our toes. Like something out of a slightly ominous modern-day fairytale, Eero’s creations are beautiful, enchanting, and filled with deadly secrets.
