Why You Need to Visit Free Range Art & Design Shows This Year

8 LR

After a little inspiration this summer? While the sun shines up-and-coming creatives from all over the UK will be hard at work in preparation for one of the best events of the year. The Free Range Art and Design Show is an annual summer showcase of the UK’s leading creative graduates and it’s back for its 15th consecutive year of creative excellence. Over the course of six weeks, a selection of differing disciplines, such as fashion, design, photography, art, interior design and architecture, will take centre stage at The Old Truman Brewery, promoting Britain’s most innovative and compelling up-and-comings.

Set to run from 5th June until 14th July, Free Range Shows are not only formed of exhibitions but also feature a programme of talks and workshop events curated by and in partnership with the British Journal of Photography and Cass Art. Each week a different discipline will be given its chance to shine and we can’t wait to witness some of the outstanding talent that will be on display for the first time. For many of the young artists involved this show will be an inaugural opportunity to exhibit work outside of a university environment, with the show’s exposure enabling them to move to new places with their creativity.

‘The aim of Free Range Shows is to provide career development and opportunities for the incredibly talented artists from leading arts schools. By inviting the public to explore and embrace the cutting edge art that has been created, we hope to inspire the next generation of artists. This year we will be pushing boundaries further than ever with the staggering work on display, such as performance architect Alex Schweder’s collaboration with the Cambridge University Architecture society, an installation called “Push Me Pull You”.’ – Creative Director and founder Tamsin O’Hanlon

With the arrival of this beautiful weather, we’re already very excited for the onslaught of summer and all the outdoor making and creating that warmer days and night bring. In addition to this, we’re now counting down the days until Free Range and eagerly awaiting the programme of exhibitions and events that we’ll be attending at Shoreditch’s iconic Old Truman Brewery.
